The Auto Collision Repair Technology program is designed to prepare students for a career in repairing, replacing, and straightening damaged components of vehicles. Collision repair technicians are craftsmen who can repair and restore automobile bodies to pre-accident condition with the utmost detail and accuracy.
Once a student successfully completes the safety tests on equipment use, he/she will spend the time divided between the classroom and the shop. A high percentage of their time is spent in the shop learning from hands-on experience. For each year of successful completion of the auto collision repair program, students will receive three credits toward graduation.
Auto Collision I
Students enrolled in the first year of the Auto Collision Program learn how to safely operate state-of-the-art equipment. The shop is equipped with lifts to put the vehicles in the air, frame straightening equipment, air controlled spray paint booths, and air tools to do just about any job. The students will start on small projects to gain experience and skills needed. Once students have achieved competency on different tasks, they will put their skills to work on live customer vehicles.
Auto Collision II
During the second year, students will perfect their skills gained from the first year of the program. They will be able to align, repair, or replace parts to eliminate the slightest blemish and learn to spray paint automobile bodies with a professional finish. Students who successfully complete the two-year program will open doors to great opportunities for employment in the auto collision profession and/or create a foundation for further education in the field. All students are encouraged to participate in Skills, USA.
